In the name of God, the Lord of Grace, the Ever Merciful
This book is bestowed from on high by God, the Almighty, the Wise. It is We who have bestowed on you this revelation from on high, stating the truth. Therefore, worship God alone, sincere in your faith in Him. True devotion is due to God alone. Those who take others besides Him as their protectors say: 'We worship them for no reason other than that they would bring us nearer to God.' God will judge between them concerning all matters on which they differ. God will not grace with guidance anyone who is bent on lying [to himself and is] stubbornly ingrate!
(Quran 39: 1-3)
The surah begins with a clear, emphatic statement: The book is bestowed from on high by God, the Almighty, the Wise. As He is the Almighty, He is able to bestow to from whatever levels eve further the highest we can imagine, and His Wisdom, encompasses the purposes of this bestowal as in accordance to His elaborate planning.
The surah dwells on the most important fact the revelation of the Holy Quran is addressing the Oneness of Allah, worshipping only Him alone, ensuring sincerity in faith, eliminating all traces of any alleged partnership with God and establishing direct contact with Him without any intermediary or need for intercession.
We need to understand that having faith and sincerity in our worship to ALlah begins by peeling away our thoughts and focussing on the true existence of The Almighty. Allah is The Master Planner of the Universe as He is Al-Malik, The Lord of the Universe. We need to understand that our lives o n this world is a big test before we are presented to Him on the Day of Judgement and to account for our deeds.
Thus our sincerity in faith and our ability to unite the existence of everything is attributed to Allah. Our daily actions and activities need to be always be filled with the thought that we are arriving in Jannah. We need to ensure that we practise what has been commanded by Allah to us to ensure our faith is not corrupted.
In this modern day most of us may find it difficult to admit that we do have associations other than Allah. But in actual fact we are all walking a fine line of associating our believe in Allah's Oneness with modern day life. Our goal in this modern day is driven by our constant yearning to achieve greatness in this world through material wealth, position and influence. Sometimes we credit our success to our own effort and not to Allah's Benevolence. We look at our position in society with greatness and not admit that it is through Allah's Greatness that we hold position. We overcome health conditions and physical ills and forget that through the surgeons hand Allah has given us Shifaa.
Let us remind ourselves that our daily lives cannot stray away from remembrance of Allah's Oneness. Let us remember that we will return to Him in the future to account for all that we gone through in this World.
May Allah Guide us and Protect us from being deviant. May Allah give us strength to hold strong our Iman and Belief.
